Music’s biggest night is only a year away and there’s a new host in town: “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown.
She’ll be taking over hosting duties from Lea Michele, who hosted the 2018 AMAs and 2017 AMAs, becoming the first woman of color to ever hold that role. She told “Entertainment Tonight” that she “can’t wait” to host again and was very “honored and excited” to take over the job.

Also on hand as presenters will be Danai Gurira, Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross, Rita Ora, and Adwoa Aboah, representing R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, and Soul/R&B.
Nick Jonas and Halsey will perform — Jonas, along with Alessia Cara, will perform their new hit single “Two of Us,” while Halsey will perform her song “Without Me.”
Diplo and Marshmello will also perform, along with Kelly Clarkson and Alex Pall.
The upcoming awards show will also feature a huge tribute to music’s biggest legend, Michael Jackson. The TV broadcast will include performances from several of the pop singer’s top songs, as well as a collection of images from his career and a look back at his influence on pop culture.

“We didn’t want to do a show that was like, ‘We’re going to play you Michael Jackson,’ so we really dug deep into different eras of his musical career,” Executive Producer Jesse Ignjatovic told CNN. “But also, we wanted to feel like this is more than just a pure MJ tribute. We want to play homage to the time in his life when he was wearing these black leather jackets, and this was music that felt really aligned with this white-collar lifestyle. That he was proud of. We want people to feel like they’re getting emotional, not just kind of enjoying a kind of musical nostalgia.”
“We’ll be doing things to bring it into the present day and be like, ‘Yeah, he did do that.’ But also, we’ll play classics that he did on tour back in the ’90s like ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Thriller.’ So it’s also not just a tribute because it’s something that’s iconic, it’s something that’s deeply emotional and really relevant today,” he added.
The 2020 AMAs will be hosted by Tyra Banks and produce by Brad Lachman.
The awards show is a take on the Sony Premios Juventud, an annual awards show aimed at high school students, whose annual musical performances are popular worldwide. The Premios Juventud is a Spanish-language variety show that took place on Sunday night.
The American Music Awards will air on ABC on Sunday, November 18, at 8 pm ET.
