Rapper Dolph killed during shoot-out in Memphis

On Tuesday morning, Antwone Fisher and a group of hoodlums attacked Young Dolph outside of a Memphis strip club. According to The New York Times, Dolph was picked up by Fisher, an apparent member of the Bloods gang, and went back to the car, where two other men and Fisher’s associates were waiting. As Dolph moved toward the car, a banger fired several shots, killing him. Police arrested Fisher and five others, and the gun used in the shooting has since been recovered.

During an interview with The Times, Dolph’s girlfriend Myriam Samuels, 32, said that her relationship with the rapper — a rapper who released 2015’s They Don’t Love Me No More — is the core of their bond. “We were together for all the ups and all the downs,” Samuels told The Times. “To me, it was his. The only person in his life besides his family was me.”

In recent months, the rapper had begun rapping about Dolph’s girlfriend and the type of rapper he wanted to be. “I want to be the best boss in the game, and I want to take you with me to the biggest party in the world, and it’s not about being the first person to ride the wildest city on the planet,” he rapped in an Instagram video posted on Sunday. “It’s about being the first person there, and when I say that it ain’t no Demarco, it’s not no D.O.C., I mean, it’s just about me!”

Although at first skeptical, Samuels came around to Dolph’s ambitions, praising the rapper for channeling her issues to serve a purpose. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s real! He’s giving me a voice for how I feel about life in general,’” she told The Times. “I was like, ‘I love his voice.’”

In a video that he posted to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon, Dolph’s friend Denzel Everett described the violent attack. “The bouncer hit him with a blunt object, and then somebody grabbed a gun from his waistband and shot multiple times,” he said, according to NNPA Wire.

As of Wednesday morning, the rapper’s attackers were still at large.
