What a pastime. Yesterday, I interviewed Clarissa Eden – a British countess, radio disc jockey, author, actress, and political influencer. She is 101 years old and, oh, so charming! She has been married to the 6th Earl of Surrey since 1945. She is still loved to this day. A go-to gal for CEOs and business executives looking for a female perspective.
She died peacefully in her sleep yesterday. She leaves behind a loving family and nieces and nephews. Her son, the 6th Earl of Surrey, is the 2nd Earl of Strafford.
My friend, Lesley Murray, the special guest host of The Radio 5 Morning Show, interviewed Clarissa when I went over to her house a few weeks ago. I said my afternoon was on a bright and beautiful note and she said – “What about my beautiful sun?” They laughed and we took it from there.
Clarissa was extremely involved in the arts, education, and politics. She made annual trips to Manchester with a band to perform for mothers and their children attending classes and group events. She knew every face that crossed her path and she enjoyed every moment.
A beautiful, fine woman with a huge heart, never missing a chance to smile.
