“Ghostbusters: Afterlife” is on fire.

After months of anticipation and many teasers, the latest “Ghostbusters” movie — set 10 years after the original and directed by gender-swapped Paul Feig — has finally been released.

But despite its lingering gimmick — all of the original comedy’s main paranormal-fighting line-up (voiced by Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon) have returned, except for Bill Murray who — in the latest film, is replaced by Ed Helms.

There are, however, some changes — the new all-female team is still led by Murray’s original, ectoplasmic partner Peter Venkman, played by Dan Aykroyd.

But it is also the most imaginative, with humorous love stories, a high-tech, gadget-filled museum and moving performances by Judith Light (as a distant female relative of Peter’s).

We have been here before.

Making up for lost time

Many fans (plus of course the original cast, who worked so hard for so long) feel the 2016 reboot of the film was the worst in the franchise, almost in line with the tone of “Ghostbusters” itself.
